MUSTARD SEEDS (4yrs to 6yrs)
You’re never too little to pick up a racket. The aim of this course is to introduce children to tennis in a fun and enjoyable way. Sessions include various games which develop hand and eye co ordination and court sense. Children learn to use the racket in half the court area, developing basic strokes and technique. Children’s rackets will be provided if necessary for demo and purchase.
JUNIORS (7yrs to 12yrs)
Following on from Mustard Seeds, these sessions are for children who have already grasped the basics such as serving, rallying and volleying from the half court area. During the weekly sessions, juniors will develop these fundamental skills further, in preparation for full court tennis.
TEENS (13yrs to 17yrs)
This stage is suitable for both children who have come up through Mustard Seeds and Juniors and complete beginners who fall into this age group. Basic strokes are taught to beginners, whilst children with previous experience continue to develop their existing skills. Because of their age and strength, in no time at all, all children will be at a similar level and ready to progress further.
HOTDOGS (Age and Ability based)
This program is aimed at players who want to compete at a higher level, such as tournaments and junior interclub. Training sessions focus on developing solid and consistent strokes whilst at the same time, building strategic skills and match tactics. In addition, a variety of match style drills are performed through out the sessions aimed at improving physical fitness and match endurance.
Please note: These age groups are intended as a parent guideline only. Players will not automatically move up a group when they reach the next age category. Children will need to demonstrate the required standards before they can join a new class.
All group sessions must be booked and paid for in advance. All children are required to wear: non-marking tennis shoes, boys – sport shorts & tee shirts, girls – sport shorts or tennis skirt & tee shirt. No beachwear will be permitted. Discounts are available for families with two or more children participating in the programme. All youth sessions are based on a minimum ratio of 4:1. Sessions may be cancelled if the minimum ratio is not met.
